A joint celebration of the 300th of the Hudson River and the 100th Anniversary of the First successful coml application of the paddle steamer. 325.33 grammes of silver. Obverse: A scene on board ship, DISCOVERY OF HUDSON RIVER BY HENRY HUDSON A.D. MDCIX . THE AMERICAN NUMISMATIC SOCIETY HUDSON-FULTON CELEBRATION COMM. Below: A ship HALVE MAENE, Reverse: Three seated female figures representing Steam Navigation, History and Commerce, above: a portrait of Robert Fulton (1765-1815) and views of in 1807 and 1909, in Exergue: FIRST USE OF STEAM NAVIGATION ON THE HUDSON RIVER 1807, EF or better, in antique silver finish, We note that smaller sizes have been produced of this medal in 51mm and 63mm diameters, we have not been above to locate another 101mm diameter example.
