HalfcrownCharles I Group II, Second horseman, type 2c, Obverse: Legend reads MA instead of MAG, Reverse: Oval shield with CR at sides, S.2771 mintmark Portcullis, 14.96 grammes, Good Fine, struck on a slightly irregularly shaped flan. An interesting and unusual piece. Cataloguer's note: the MA spelling of MAG on the obverse is normally found on Group III coins with mintmark Bell, the only other occurrence of this legend in Group II with mintmark Portcullis is on a coin listed by Brooker with a CHISTO error reverse legend.(Brooker 317)
