World Banknotes Government Pick 10b dated 20th February 1974 serial number D64933 signature Harold Theodore Rowlands OBE CBE, about UNC and a very desirable and always collectible note. The banknote in brown on grey underprint and features a crowned portrait of H.M. Queen facing left on obverse and the reverse displaying an exquisitely designed brown guilloche panel. Printed by Thomas & Company Limited London inscribed in small script at lower centre margin and watermarked with lozenge quadrilateral shaped pattern across the paper. Harold T. Rowlands entered Government in 1948 and was appointed Secretary and Commissioner for taxation in 1972.

Knight titled Chief ier holding the position from 1973 to 1977 printed by inscribed in small script at lower left reverse and here the portrait of H.M. the Queen is crowned with a tiara and looking 3/4 left similar to printed by them notes of that period. The second note is the later Wilkinson and Co. printing inscribed in small script at lower left on the reverse Pick 171a ND (1981 - 1992) serial number JAM 001514 and signed Ray Hardie titled Chief Cashier who took the position after R. World Banknotes Government of India Pick 14a 1935 serial number 10A 989490 watermark King portrait signature J.W. Kelly titled Controller of the Currency. Green-blue obverse featuring Coin depicting King George V at right and reverse with the serial number and a design featuring the Royal Cypher with a and 1 rupee coin dated 1935. This note printed in England and this issue could not be introduced at the time due to the death King George V in January 1936 and it was only accepted to circulate these notes at par with the metallic silver rupee folowing the outbreak of the Second World War and the ensuing commodity scarcity around Silver i.e. this being a unique issuing where notes were released after the death of a monarch and also the only note to feature the serial number on the reverse. World Banknotes 1 The First Issue dated 4th November 1826 signed James More for the Accountant and Archibald Bonar for the ier. Calloway and Murphy RB38. Vignette of & Britannia upper centre surmounted by , Pay Andrew Bogle or the bearer and an elaborate printed reverse. William Home Lizars the printer and engraver who prepared some of Scotland's finest banknote designs, was asked to engrave new £1 and 1 Guinea notes in 1825. There was already a family connection with the bank as his father Daniel Lizars had been a customer since at least 1799 and William himself had been granted a credit of £300 in 1812 'upon an obligation Sir Alex Jardine, Bart (his brother-in-law) and Charles Stewart Printer in Edinburgh being in place of one held by Daniel Lizars, Engraver here.' (his father Daniel had just died). Both the £1 and 1 Guinea notes employ a much more intricate and detailed engraving techniques possible when using harder steel plate. Lizars was at the forefront of these techniques. Both the £1 and the 1 Guinea for the first time for the Royal Bank have printed reverses. These 1 Guinea notes are the last to be issued by the Royal Bank whose minutes indicated that some 550 books at 400 notes per book were issued (= 220,000 notes). Issuance ceased in February 1830 after yet another . The bank's records refer to Steel Plates No. 1 to No. 3, from which it is inferred that the original plate was re-engraved, perhaps in response to forgeries. About Fine with pinholes
