The ship entered service in 1961 and made her maiden voyage starting in June, operating on the combined P&O-Orient Line service between the United Kingdom and . So popular, the ship appeared in the 1971 film and in 1997 Gerard Kenny released the single "Farewell Canberra" which was specially composed for the last voyage, before it was withdrawn and sold to ship breakers for scrapping, and left for Gadani ship-breaking yard in . Being such a solid construction, the scrapping process took a year instead of the pld 3 months. The ship also served as a troopship in the Falklands War being requisitioned by the MOD and quickly refitted for the purpose she sailed on 9th April 1982 travelling 9,000 nautical miles (17,000 km) away from the UK mainland and being put in the heart of the conflict she was nicknamed the Great Whale.

VF or slightly better with very faint Pencil Annotation at upper margin and a tiny marginal tear at right but these not affecting the general appearance of the note and not extending into the design, the note in red and the obverse featuring an illustration of Aberdeen's 's College at centre and 3 Coat of Arms at 3 corners - top left is the Bank's Coat of Arms, top right is the County of Aberdeenshire and at lower left is the City of Aberdeen. The reverse displaying an enlarged Bank's Coat of Arms at centre on a guilloche panel. Printed by Thomas & Co. Limited London and watermarked with a bust of Sir William based on the statue on Union Ter in Aberdeen by Sir William along with the Bank's monogram. The North of Scotland Bank notes have been and always are keenly sought after by collectors due to their imperviously beautiful design. It makes this a very rare and desirable note along with the fact that this bank was the last of Aberdeen issuers, the relatively small quantity of notes issued and this being the last design just before the bank's identity was completely lost in 1950 even through the Aberdonian directors determined efforts to preserve their independence after the London-based Midland Bank acquisition in 1923. All these facts make this a very rare and seldomly offered note

Also the Pick NL unrecorded L.1930 President Mustafa İsmet İnönü at right & view at reverse series H19 02888 Fine - about VF small piece missing from bottom right corner, a small tear at upper centre at fold and a small light rust mark to left but very well kept and an Exceptionally Scarce notes as our research could find that this issue was on a ship (SS City of Roubaix) bombed by while at Piraeus Harbour () April 6, 1941 near the beginning of WWII. The Turkish government the issue and arranged for another instead. All available examples were rescued from the sea therefore signs of salt water damage are to be expected. "There is no official recovery record of the 100 Lira notes from the wreck. They were not handed over by the Greek authorities to the Republic of Turkey like the 50 Kurus notes. It is believed the notes that escaped confiscation were also introduced by Greek and non-Muslim tradesmen and put into circulation in the smaller provinces of Turkey, where communications were poor. The variety of notes confused the public, who were not in a position to tell if the notes were legitimate or not. What is certain is these original notes are extremely rare. Only two pieces were reportedly seen in Turkey in the last few decades. The same is true for the note (P136). Not more than a couple has ever been reported. Although also very hard to acquire, Thomas notes remain the best bet for filling this historic gap in a bank note of Turkish Republic issues."
