Anglo-Gallic - Aquitaine, Denier, Eleanor, Duchess of Aquitaine (1137-1204) struck after 1189, Obverse: Two Cross Patees, m above, A below, DVCISIT, Reverse: Cross Patee, AGVITANIE, 0.76 grammes, Elias 11b, Near Fine with some weak areas, on a full flan. Note: This type is attributed to Eleanor of Aquitaine, who regained her rule of the duchy after the death of her husband Henry II, and her release from imprisonment. Some speculate the initials mA stand for Moneta Alienora. The meaning of the obverse inscription is also uncertain, possibly ducis[sa] it[erum], meaning "duchess again."
