The obverse with the crowned portrait of KingCharles III by Martin Jennings, reverse after Benedetto Pistrucci’s celebrated Waterloo Medal, the conjoined busts left of the four Allied sovereigns: George, Prince Regent; Francis II, Emperor of Austria; Alexander I, Emperor of Russia; and Frederick William III, King of Prussia. The portraits are surrounded by an intricate series of classical and allegorical figures symbolising the peace achieved following the defeat of Napoleon, with Apollo driving his quadriga above and Iris and Zephyrus following. The design was reproduced from moulds taken from Pistrucci’s original dies, now preserve in the Royal Mint Museum. Proof FDC.
