Ten Pounds Peppiatt Pre-war First Period Unthreaded White Note B242a BIRMINGHAM branch issue dated 28th February 1938 serial number 174/V 78281, an excellent and Scarce branch issue and well preserved example approaching EF with very minor signs of wear and an original Bank's stamp on reverse at upper right corner with an inked/pencilled numeral possibly for accounting purposes. These branch issues are always Rare and very sought after and this example is very desirable bearing a date just a year before the issue of notes by the Bank's Branches was discontinued in 1939. Branches other than the main London branch started issuing in 1826 and as mentioned discontinued in 1939, after which they served as just distribution centres. These white 10 Pound notes were the last of the white examples for the denomination but the last of the 10 pounds until 1964 when the denomination was re-introduced again in the form of the Series C Brown Lion & Key issues of Hollom.

Leominster Bank 5 Pounds dated 1st January 1824 No. B2071 For Coleman, Morris & Sons (Outing 1176c; Grant 1653) missing corner piece and originally paper repaired on reverse, dividend & bankruptcy stamps. Burton upon Trent Bank 1 Pound dated 11th January 1815 No. J3005 For Harding, Oakes and Willington (Outing 373a; Grant 588). Together with the Stockton on Tees Bank 5 Pounds dated 19th June 1882 No. Z1758 For Jonathan Backhouse & Company (Outing 373a; Grant 588). An interesting selection

Imprint of Vizetelly, Branston & Co. Fleet Street, London. Black and grey with vignette of Beehive ("Industry") at upper left and balanced scales ("Justice and Equality") at upper right. These notes were used in exchange of produced goods.
