We note this piece considerably superior to the example in the Andrew Wayne and Roland Harris Collections
Shilling 1735 Roses and Plumes ESC 1198, Bull 1707 in an NGC holder and graded MS62, Ex-Cheshire Collection, many early George II Shillings hard to find in high grades. At the time of writing, NGC have only graded one finer example.

Guinea 1774 ProofS.3728 Wilson & Rasmussen 95, upright die alignment, Plain bevelled edge, in a PCGS holder and graded PR64 Cameo, and with WINGS gold sticker (choice for the stated grade) a superb piece, choice and rare, showing the characteristic die flaw in the reverse field associated on some examples of this type (see illustration and notes in Wilson and Rasmussen Page 140 footnote). Stunning detail and eye appeal, the quality of strike considerably superior to the comparable currency issues of the period, a handsome and attractive addition to any quality collection of early milled gold. The only one graded by PCGS so yet another indication of this coins rarity
Sovereign 1908C (Ottawa Mint) Satin FinishS.3970 in a PCGS holder and graded SP63. One of the rarest Sovereigns in the entire series. See Notes in Marsh pages 81-83. Marsh stated that he had only recorded 11 examples, a superb piece and missing from many advanced gold collections.
Half Sovereign 1826 ProofS.3804, Wilson & Rasmussen 249. Without the extra tuft of hair. in a PCGS holder and graded PR65DCAM, a stunning example of the Proof striking from the sets of the year. The Proof striking accentuates the intricacy of the design, and truly enhances the work of the designer. We note only 7 examples of this type have been graded by PCGS. An example graded PR65+ DCAM and a PR66 DCAM are the only finer graded pieces. A very sought after issue with a tiny mintage of 150 pieces, this type missing from many advanced milled gold and/or Half Sovereign collections

Only 3 examples exist, only 2 being in private hands. This example in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 30. A highly important piece and a rare opportunity to own such an important coin
Half Sovereign 1821 ProofS.3802 UNC retaining much original mint brilliance and touches of red toning in places, the obverse with some light tooling in the field between the King's forehead and D:G:, a true rarity and one-year type design. The reverse by Pistrucci is considered to be one of the classic and most beautiful 19th Century designs. We note the currency coin now lists at £5750, this being rated R5 by Marsh, (estimated 9-14 known) the Proof coin now listing at £8500, a considerably more rare and desirable coin, and seldom offered for sale. Our archive database shows that we have only offered one previous example, this was in November 2003. The finest known of 5 examples thus far recorded by the LCGS Population Report. At the time of writing, 38 examples had been recorded, the next finest Charles II currency Farthing being graded 75, therefore this clearly a superior piece. A true mint state example with excellent detail and surfaces, very few extant in this high grade, would enhance any top quality copper collection, one of a number of high quality slabbed copper Farthings in this sale
Shilling 1727 George II Roses and Plumes ESC 1190, Bull 1695, a choice and sharply struck example, in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 82, a stunning example and the finest of just 3 examples thus far recorded by the LCGS Population Report. Farthing 1730 Peck 854 in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 82, a superb piece with the King's portrait and Britannia sharp and attractive, the finest known of 5 examples thus far recorded by the LCGS Population Report. All George II Young Head Farthings very desirable in high grade and are seldom encountered, this piece would enhance any high quality copper collection
Halfcrown 1840 ESC 673 About EF, the obverse with some contact marks on the Queen's hair, the reverse with a few small rim nicks visible under magnification, Ex-David Sellwood collection
Farthing 1849 as Peck 1570, 4 over lower 4, No stop after date, the B of BRITANNIAR with no serifs, LCGS variety 05, the only example of this die pair thus far recorded by the LCGS Population Report. No fewer than 13 varieties of 1839 currency Farthings have been recorded by the LCGS Population Report and of all coins recorded of all the types only one piece has graded higher. Very few Victorian Farthings offered with this much mint lustre, would enhance any quality copper collection
Farthing 1854 Peck 1580 a superb example with choice glossy fields, pleasing tone and traces of original mint lustre, in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 80, Ex-Colin Cooke collection Lot 190
Farthing 1879 Ordinary 9 in date Freeman 538, dies 5+C a sharply struck example with traces of original lustre and considerable eye appeal, in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 82, the finest known of 7 examples thus far recorded by the LCGS Population Report, this example superior to the Colin Cooke Collection example graded which only NEF/EF. It is interesting to note that PCGS have not graded any examples higher than MS64, also NGC records only 2 examples at MS65, so clearly an under-rated type.
Farthing 1880 4 Berries, Open 8 in date, LCGS variety 02, Rare and unlisted by Peck, of comparable quality to the example in the Colin Cooke Collection. In an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 80

The NGC Top Population coin, and the finest known example across three major grading companies. At the time of writing, our research has uncovered 11 examples graded by third party grading companies, some entries which may be duplicated. LCGS has graded 4 examples, in grades 82, 88 (2) and 90. PCGS has graded 3 examples, all SP65, and NGC has graded 4 examples SP62, SP64 (2) and this superb SP67 example. The fields display an even shimmering satin lustre, and displaying the die polish lines associated with this type under strong magnification, a key indicator of this excessively rare type. A wonderful example and would be a centrepiece coin in any advanced Crown collection. We note an example of this type sold in London Coins Auction A166 1/9/2019 described as 'nFDC with underlying brilliance' sold for £5500 hammer price
Sovereign 1832 Second Bust, Marsh 17 UNC and lustrous the reverse with the lightest of friction to the highest points only, a superior example, Ex-Charles Wander Collection
Halfcrown 1689 First Shields, Caul and Interior frosted, with pearls, Second L over M in GVLIELMVS UNC with a beautiful and original blue/green tone, light haymarks and very minor cabinet friction only, a truly superior example, would certainly enhance an advanced Halfcrown collection.
Sovereign 1850 with a 5 struck over the 8 of the date, a recently discovered type, NVF/Good Fine and extremely rare, the overstrike extremely bold and clear. This the same variety as the coin listed in the Bentley Collection (Lot 986), where it was stated 'the cataloguer has heard of only one other specimen extant' and that the Bentley collector waited 5 years to acquire his example. We note the Bentley example, described as 'Cleaned, Good Very Fine' realised £2520 in May 2013. In the light of this, there will be few opportunities to obtain this coin for any advanced Sovereign Collection, and it may be many years before another example is offered
Halfpenny 1720 Peck 795 UNC or very near so, in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 75, the only example thus far recorded by the LCGS Population Report, a superb example that would enhance any advanced Halfpenny collection. Must surely be among the finest known examples extant. In over 38000 coins graded since this, there have been no further examples submitted
Halfpenny 1775 Peck 908 UNC and choice with some remaining mint lustre, in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 82, Ex-Cheshire Collection NGC MS65BN (no NGC ticket, this information recorded at the time of LCGS encapsulation) the joint finest of 3 examples thus far recorded by the LCGS Population Report

Halfpenny 1697 E over B in GVLIELMVS unlisted by Peck, we note there was no equivalent type in the Nicholson Collection, an unrecorded type VF and struck off-centre with around 2mm flan showing beyond the border between 10 o'clock and 3 o'clock on the obverse and correspondingly between 3 o'clock and 8 o'clock on the reverse
Halfcrown 1920 Davies 1672N struck in a hard nickel type alloy and weighing 12.43 grammes. There are 1924 trial nickel shillings, with a very rare example struck metrically weighing 5 gr. The 1672N Halfcrown listed here may also be a Royal Mint trial, when a complete elimination of silver seemed feasible. There appears to be an interesting 'privy' mark, introduced by a thicker down stroke to the 'D' of 'Dei' with the top serif of this 'D' being double struck. The border bead above is also oversized (wider). This would be an odd occurrence for any counterfeiter, especially on top of striking perfectly die-cut, but lightweight coins in this hard metal, and having excellent milling. a similar example was listed in Auction A151 6/12/2015 (Lot 2687, weight 11.92 grammes, realised £120 hammer price), the description then stating that only 6 of these examples were then known to the vendor Near Fine/VG a highly unusual type, comes with Colin Adams collection ticket
Halfpenny 1699 Date in Legend with GVLIELMV . error, unlisted by Peck, similar to the example in the Nicholson Collection (item 115) and appears struck from the same dies, VG or better on a porous flan, the error very clear, with stop following GVLIELMV also clear
Farthing 1847 with Inverted 1 over normal 1 in date giving the appearance of a Roman 1, this in similar style to the similar Sovereign variety of this date (See Bentley sale Lot 408), Reverse B (no flaw by Britannia's arm) B of BRIT has no serifs top or bottom, date spacing 8 3/4 teeth, the date spacing as LCGS Variety 06. EF/NEF and presumably very rare, our archive database stretching back to 2003 confirms we have not previously offered this type. We note also that there was no corresponding type in the Colin Cooke collection
Penny 1909 Freeman 168 dies 2+D UNC and lustrous, in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 78, Ex-T.Stone collection London Coins Auction A107 28/11/2004 Lot 1275, hammer price £34, Ex-London Coins Auction A144 1/3/2014 Lot 1880 hammer price £60

Halfpenny 1729 Peck 830 UNC evenly struck and a super example of the Young Head portrait type, slabbed in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 78, formerly part of the Andrew Wayne Collection, sold in London Coins Auction A113 5/6/2006 (Lot 980), this is one of the very early submissions to LCGS (UIN 0000030) and after a further 43,000 coins have been graded, is still the finest recorded example, thus proving the rarity of these early copper pieces.
Penny 1874H Freeman 76 dies 7+I GVF with field corrosion, we note that all previous examples we have offered have graded Fine or below, rated R17 by Freeman and very rare, we also note that there was no example of this type in either the Roland Harris or Andrew Wayne collections
Farthing 1673 No Stops on Obverse Peck 525 Fine and bold, very few known examples, the listing for the Cooke collection states 'we know of none better than GF', this example certainly compares favourably with the Cooke collection example. Listed as Extremely Rare by Peck, we note we have only offered one previous example, London Coins Auction A151 6/12/2015 Lot 2310 described as 'better than Fine, bold and clear' which realised £200 hammer price
Sovereign 1937 ProofS.4076 in an NGC holder and graded PF66 an exceptional piece, Ex*- D.Moore Collection, the star designation only given to choice coins with exceptional eye appeal and quality for the given grade. Shilling 1850 50 over 49 or 46 ESC 1297, Bull 2997/2998 About VF/VF and Very Rare. All 1850 Shillings very rare, with the overdate variety even more so. The second finest example of this type we have offered, only the Andrew Wayne Collection example was superior

Similar in style to the Whiteaves patterns of the period, No legend, 16.79 grammes, Near EF with a few surface marks, Extremely Rare, rated R6 by ESC (3 or 4 examples known). We note the example in the Maritime Collection (London Coins Auction A148 Lot 1782 realised £1500 hammer price as far back as September 2014
Penny 1860 Toothed Border/Beaded Border muleFreeman 9 dies 2+B, also with R over lower 'thin' R in VICTORIA and higher T in BRITT, VG and free from problems, very rare in any grade, both the 1860 mule types seldom seen and missing from many Victorian Penny collections
Threepence 1853 ESC 2060, Bull 3384 UNC or very near so with the lightest friction to the highest points, attractively toned, Very Rare, especially in this high grade, we note the example in the Andrew Wayne collection in UNC sold for £580 hammer price as long ago as June 2006
Crown 1821 Uniface trials or electrotypes for both sides of the coin, the reverse slightly convex, struck in silver; The reverse displays a small raised dot on the horse's breast, This ties in with ESC 262 (page 33 1992 edition) which states:- 'a small dot on the horse's body' which 'has not yet been removed' Rayner is referring to a plain edge coin minted the following year exhibiting the same characteristics as this piece. The reverse also missing the streamer, this also referred to in Linecar & Stone 6 on a copper trial (Page 57) where it is stated 'This would appear to be an artist's trial the check the erasion of the streamer' We also note some raised dots on the King's portrait, this would appear to be an intermediate pattern whose design was adopted, albeit with some changes, on the 1821-1822 Currency issues, Both sides NEF with matching dark grey tone, and both sides with full edge inscription as on the currency 1821 issue, an interesting insight into the progression on artists types 1820-1822. A coin of this description with the dot, but with full streamer and dated 1820 was present in the Forster, Marshall, Brice, Lingford, Clarke-Thornhill, Nobleman, Hamilton-Smith, Monagu and Murdochcollections
