Blythen, CheshireRegiment, NEF to EF cleaned, Andrew Blythen was born 11/11/1865 at Wrexham, He served 24 years with the Cheshire Regiment and was discharged for pension 4/4/1909. When World War I broke out he offered his services, and first saw service with the 8th Bn. Cheshire Regiment as shown on the 1918 Army list. The 1919 list shows him as a Captain employed with Dispersal Unit on the Territorial Force General List. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal by Army Order 217 in 1939. Knight. 58th Medium Regiment, Royal Artillery, Tug-Of-War, Royal Artillery badge on the reverse, 32mm diameter not hallmarked, with suspension loop at the top, Good Fine with an edge bruise, comes with handwritten researched note stating 'Flight Seargent (sic) J. Knights L.L.625-C 514 Squadron based at Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire, killed 24th March 1944 on return from raid on Berlin. Mission consisted of 577 Lancasters, 216 Halifaxes and 18 Mosquitos. 44 Lancasters were lost in the raid. One of the crew members, Ron McAllister survived as a prisoner of war.

Army of India Medal, reverse short hyphen type, officially impressed naming, with Bhurtpoor clasp, awarded to Ensign T.G. Dundas 15th N.I. EF with some hairlines and some rub to the portrait. Thomas Graham Dundas arrived in Calcutta on October 4th 1825, and was entitled to Bhurtpoor prize money of 2381 Rupees (£238 sterling) which he did not claim in India. Comes with copy of India Office Library and Records stating record of service, date of commission of rank as Ensign 13th May 1825, and Lieutenant 19th Oct.1836, also List of services - Posted as Ensign to 15th N.I. 1825. Siege and Capture of Bhurtpore, Ensign 15th N.I. (India Medal). Transferred as Lieutenant to 4th Extra Regiment (became 72nd N.I) from 19th Oct.1826, after his marriage in 1832 to Margaret Maria Louisa, 3rd daughter of Edward Swift Broughton. After a period of furlough, from 10th September 1833, he failed to report for his return and subsequently resigned his commission on 3rd Feb. 1835.

Punniar Star 1843, Gwalior Campaign, bronze with silver centre, awarded to Private Timothy Bergin, 50th Queen's Own Regiment, Near VF. The bronze from these medals were struck from guns captured at the battles of Maharajpoor and Gwalior, thus anticipating the production of the Victoria Cross in the same manner.
Queen's South Africa Medal, 3rd type reverse, with 4 clasps, Elandslaagte, Orange Free State, Transvaal and Laing's Nek, awarded to 287 Tpr: H. Cullingworth, Natal M.R. EF with some hairlines, comes with copy of entitlement to the medal and a copied account of a demonstration against an enemy-held hill on the Modder Spruit side of Ladysmith known as Tinta 'Nyoni. The force, led by General White consisted of 5th Lancers, 19th Hussars, I.L.H, Natal M.R., 42nd and 53rd Batteries R.G.A., 1st LiverpoolRegiment, 1st Devons, 1st Gloucestershires and 2nd Kings Royal Rifles, a total of 5300 officers and men. The Force proceed along the Newcastle Road for about 6 miles, when they came under fire from their left at 0700 hrs. Their action was prompt and at 0800 a discharge of musketry rose and fell among the extended line of troopers, as the infantry had come up to Rietfontein. The British were soon shelling the enemy opposition, and one extremely accurate shell burst full upon one of the Boer pieces. The Natal Mounted Rifles. were ordered by Sir George White across from his right and sent in front of his left flank. The colonial riflemen used all of their skills to remove all of the danger and the object accomplished, 114 casualties were suffered. No Natal M.R were killed, and only three wounded including Trooper H. Cullingworth.

The medal was awarded to NCO's and men of the Special Reserve on completion of 15 Years service and attended 15 camps. Awarded between 1908 and 1936, 428 of the Edward VII type and 650 of the George V type were produced.
YorkshireImperial Yeomanry Medal 1901-1902, type 2 reverse, awarded to 32423 Pte. J.Robinson EF and lustrous with two gentle edge bruises, Pte. Robinson joined the regiment 7/5/1901and was invalided home on 24/3/1902.He was discharged medically unfit on 15/5/1902, and it also entitled to a 5 clasp Queen's South Africa medal. The type 2 Yorkshire Imperial Yeomanry medal was awarded by members of the 109th Yorkshire Hussars Company and the 111th Yorkshire Dragoons Company. It is estimated that 700 medals of this type were produced.

First World War (2) Military Medal - For Bravery in the Field, to 302597 Cpl. James Houston 1/5th Battalion (City of London) London Regiment (London Rifle Brigade) EF and Victory Medal to 4367 Cpl J.Houston EF, comes with internet research, showing 'Missing in action 28th March 1918'. The research shows the citation for James who was awarded the Military Medal on 16/8/1917 for Polygon Wood, after he took charge of his platoon after the platoon commander was killed. On 28th March the enemy attacked 'C' Company with an intense bombardment and the Battalion strength was reduced from 23 officers and 564 o/ranks, to 8 officers and 60 o/ranks. He is listed at the Commonwealth War Grave at Arras Memorial, France. Also World War II War Medal and Defence medal pair EF in a box with label Capt.
