Proof Set 1953 (10 coins) Crown to Farthing, UNC to FDC. Reported to have been awarded in 1953 to a dignitary and comes in a distinctly different box. The coins with a matching tone, and containing the following 3 varieties associated with what have been known as VIP sets, Penny 1953 Freeman 244 Proof, dies 1+A (Reverse with toothed border), rated R19 by Freeman, Florin 1953 Obverse 1 (I of ELIZABETH points to a space) Proof Davies 2360 dies 1A, and Halfcrown 1953 Obverse 1 Proof Davies 2310 dies 1A, (Obverse: I of DEI points to a space), Cataloguer's Note: The set originally came to the vendor along with a medal, a CVU, (Commander of the Victorian Order) which was only handed out by the Queen, so the set was actually distributed by the Queen. The medal is no longer with the set. The set comes in a maroon case with different fabric and with different gold embossing on the lid, being a simple crowned EIIR without the usual 'CROWNED 2ND JUNE 1953' below. An extremely rare set

Proof Set 1970 (7 coin set Halfcrown - Halfpenny) aFDC this in a hard square red box with LSD embossed on the lid in a stylish gold font both boxes with the Royal Mint logo inside the lid.
