GermanyEmpire Reichsschuldenverwaltung REICHSKASSENSCHEIN 50 Mark Pick 6 (Ros. 8) dated 10th January 1882 series F number 0225974, original VG and Exceptionally Rare and seldom offered highest denomination for the series note. Still retaining the strong dark brown colour and featuring a winged seated allegorical figure holding a sand hourglass in one hand and the Caduceus (Staff of Hermes) - symbol of commerce and negotiation, in the other hand, farming tools and agricultural products along bottom and shield illustrating the Reichsadler (Imperial Eagle) Coat of Arms. These issues now used amongst the various empire states and this the highest denomination for the series and a very high denomination for the time that could equal a regular worker's monthly wage. The small 5 Mark denominations of the same and the first series are also offered in this sale. The PMG Population Report currently shows no recorded examples and our research could find only 1 offered in recent times in the VF grade that realised 9400 Euro, so this presents a unique opportunity for any collector to acquire this very rare note with possibly very few survivors left
GermanyEmpire Reichsschuldenverwaltung REICHSKASSENSCHEIN 5 Mark Pick 1 (Ros. 1) dated 11th July 1874 Series IX. Lit. J Fol. 161 number 0801784, Fair to Good with a 4mm oblong centre hole and numerous other small holes in the main body of the note and an Exceptionally Rare early first series of the ImperialTreasury notes. Dark blue and grey-blue featuring small cherubs and the Reich Sadler (Imperial Eagle) Coat of Arms this series was issued just 3 years after the unification of various German states into the German Empire. Currency in the already economically powerful regions were dominated by state issued coins and notes mainly of Prussia (North German Confederation) and Bavaria. Even after unification, there was no large demand to unify the currency under a single issuer, as there was a set exchange rate between the coins of each currency. Each state also continued to issue their own currency, thus both supply and demand for this early series was small. It was not until a few series later, after the majority of these notes were already redeemed, when a unified currency became the most popular type in Germany. These issues remained in circulation until 30th June 1885. The PMG Population currently holds only 6 examples of this scarce small denomination note although it would be roughly a worker's daily wage as at time it would average between 1.50 and 6 marks.

Y.M.C.A. (Young Men's Christian Association) Herford & Bad Salzuflen canteen 1/6 Mark Token Voucher (Lothar-Weiß SU.9) for the English speaking Soldiers and Army in the area of Herford and Bad Salzuflen, Germany after the end of World War II circa 1945 onwards. Printed in black on light red thin cardboard and uniface, featuring the Y.M.C.A. triangle logo at upper centre which was a well recognized and common sight during the war. Almost as soon as the war broke out Y.M.C.A. developed mobile canteens to bring refreshments to the troops. These second-hand vans painted camouflage green were first used in East London and by the end of 1940 there 500 vans in operation bringing refreshments to the troops, rescue workers and victims of bomb raids. At the retreat of Dunkirk , Y.M.C.A. remained on the beaches until ordered to leave. The vans followed advancing and withdrawing armies not only serving mugs of tea but also selling cigarettes, chocolate, cake, hair cream, toothpaste and stationery. They also provided food and drink to those made homeless and hungry. They also had cinema vans and mobile libraries. The first British YMCA mobile canteen landed on the Normandy beaches on 29th July 1944. Internationally, the World Alliance of YMCAs expanded its work with prisoners of war and refugees: more than 250 secretaries visited camps in 38 countries. The Y.M.C.A. was given ‘official military establishment status’ – essentially given permission to operate with troops in all areas and particularly in front line positions which was very dangerous in these circumstances where the canteens became under attack and the men being wounded or captured. GVF - EF and very Scarce

Also the 100 Lira Pick NL unrecorded L.1930 President Mustafa İsmet İnönü at right & Dardanelles view at reverse series H19 02888 Fine - about VF small piece missing from bottom right corner, a small tear at upper centre at fold and a small light rust mark to left but very well kept and an Exceptionally Scarce notes as our research could find that this issue was on a ship (SS City of Roubaix) bombed by Germany while at Piraeus Harbour (Greece) April 6, 1941 near the beginning of WWII. The Turkish government cancelled the issue and arranged for another instead. All available examples were rescued from the sea therefore signs of salt water damage are to be expected. "There is no official recovery record of the 100 Lira notes from the wreck. They were not handed over by the Greek authorities to the Republic of Turkey like the 50 Kurus notes. It is believed the notes that escaped confiscation were also introduced by Greek and non-Muslim tradesmen and put into circulation in the smaller provinces of Turkey, where communications were poor. The variety of notes confused the public, who were not in a position to tell if the notes were legitimate or not. What is certain is these original notes are extremely rare. Only two pieces were reportedly seen in Turkey in the last few decades. The same is true for the 50 Lira note (P136). Not more than a couple has ever been reported. Although also very hard to acquire, Thomas De La Ruespecimen notes remain the best bet for filling this historic gap in a bank note collection of Turkish Republic issues."
