Halfpenny 1862 Die Letter B to the left of the lighthouse, Freeman 288, dies 7+E, LCW on rock. EF/NEF with some edge nicks and light surface residue. By far the finest example we have offered of this extremely rare type, rated R18 by Freeman. In our experience the rarest of the three main die letter types. Online research shows NGC have only graded 2 examples, the highest graded 45, PCGS have not graded a single example, and LCGS have only graded 2 examples, the highest being Fine 25, so this potentially the finest remaining example
Halfpenny 1862 Die Letter B, Freeman 288 dies 7+E, Fine or slightly better for wear, with some contact marks and some verdigris to the left of the lighthouse, Very rare, we note there was no example in the Nicholson, Norweb or Andrew Wayne collections
Halfpenny 1862 Die Letter B Freeman 288 dies 7+E NVF for wear the obverse with corrosion, the reverse less so with the B very bold and all major details very clear, very rare and seldom seen in any grade
Halfpenny 1862 Die Letter B Freeman 288 dies 7+E Good Fine, examples of this rare type usually show up in Fine or below, this a good collectable example
