The Challenge Tennis Prize 51mm diameter in silver awarded to A.J.Webbe 1888. The medal is inscribed CHALLENGE TENNIS PRIZE with MCC interlinked in the centre 58.57 grammes in silver, Good Fine with some surface residue. Unusual in the fact that in 1888 the Marylebone Cricket Club were in a brief period of control in overseeing changes to the laws of lawn tennis. This was later passed to the newly-formed Lawn Tennis Association in 1888. A.J Webbe was schooled at Harrow College, he went on the Trinity College Oxford where he got a Blue in his first year. He became a cricketer who played for Oxford University and Middlesex, Webbe played for the Gentlemen in the famous Gentlemen vs. Players match where he scored 65 of an opening partnership of 203 with the great W.G.Grace. Webbe first played for Middlesex in his first year at University, at the age of 20. Later going on to captain Middlesex at cricket from 1885-1898, then after retiring as a player, becoming secretary of the club from 1900 to 1922, then becoming President from 1923 to 1936. He also played one Test Match for England in 1879. In 1878-9 he was one of the amateurs who toured Australia with Lord Harris, who led a tour to Australia and played in the early matches between England and Australia prior to the first Ashes test in 1882. A.J.Webbes only Test match was played in 1879, the match was retrospectively awarded Test match status making it only the third Test match ever played. In this match he played against the legendary Australians Charles Bannerman, and fast bowler Fred 'The Demon' Spofforth who were later to feature in many of the early Ashes Test matches. The medal is a true piece of sporting history from a bygone age, and will appeal to collectors of University, Tennis, Cricket, and Historic Sporting Memorabilia. Andaman Islands One Rupee 1866 Penal Colony Token Coinage KM#Tn2, in an NGC holder and graded MS62 BN, noted by 'BritishCommonwealth Coins' by Remick/James/Dowle/Finn as being 'the rarest British Commonwealth coins' and records only 5 examples having been sold between the publications of the second and third editions between 1969 and 1971. London Coins Auction A156 5/6/2017 sold an 1866 example, Lot 1049, described as 'EF silvered' for £12,000 hammer price, more recently an example in NGC AU55 BN realised HK$ 220,000 this the more common 1861. The piece offered here (1866) is certified by NGC and graded MS62 BN, one of only 3 examples graded by NGC and by far the finest known, the other two examples being graded as AU58 and AU55. NGC have graded 5 examples of the 1861 coin the finest being graded AU55, so not only is this the finest known 1866, but also the finest coin spanning both issues of this series. We also note no examples dated 1866 have been graded by PCGS, so this piece stands alone as the only MS graded example. So If you are a collector of high grade rarities of which only very small quantities are known to exist, then this is the coin for you. A true one of a kind super-rarity.

Ten Shillings Bradbury First Issue T10 Red De La Rue Dot in No. 5 Digit serial number issue 1914 series B/23 30179 and a scarcer type note with "P" of "POSTAGE" visible in watermark at top left above George V medallion, presentable Fine with small edge nicks and very minor pinholes to upper left, expected for the note's age. In 1914 just prior to the outbreak of World War I Lord Atterbury, Controller of H.M Stationery Office and Sir John Bradbury, the Secretary to the Treasury met at his house and they produced a design for these 10 Shillings and 1-pound notes just overnight. Due to no banknote paper available at the time except for the one in use for the White notes of Bank of England and for a rather rapid issuance of the notes simple cypher watermarked postal stamp paper was utilised. In addition to this, in order to increase the effectiveness of the productivity, a small number of notes were printed sideways at the edges of the sheets to fill the blank space resulting in another rare watermark variety known as the sideways watermark. In short, these watermark varieties are rather Rarer compared to the other notes as there would be a very limited number of them per sheet, on top of the fact that these notes are over a century old now with very few survivors seen nowadays. Therefore, this provides an exclusive window of opportunity for any collector to acquire this excellent example

Ireland (Northern) Bank of Ireland Second Northern Ireland Type C "Sterling" issue 10 PoundsPick 67b (BY NI.224b, PMI BA 121) ND 1985 signature D J Harrison and a first of the double prefix for this signature type and lower serial number AA 000115, otherwise this type starts at single letter prefix X with some stating even W 900001, a fresh and crisp UNC and very alluring in this high grade. These were the last issues for this design and introduced the word 'STERLING' below denomination at centre obverse and the '£' symbol was added to numerical values at corners. These changes made to reflect the end of the fixed exchange rate of par between the Irish Pound (Punt) and British Pound Sterling that took place in March 1979. A Thomas De La Rue engraving and printing but without imprint and in brown on multicolour featuring a statue of Hibernia at right and the well-recognized for the Bank - Medusa head at left with the row of the same head at upper centre with the exception that its now featured in the underprint. The reverse with various illustrations representing industry at centre of which is the Bank's building along with the Short Belfast - the heavy lift turboprop freighter plane with only 10 aircraft constructed, textile and thread rolls and the passenger ocean liner SS Canberra. An amazing 250 metre and 17 million Pounds liner that was named after the federal capital of Australia, Canberra and sponsored by the Dame Pattie Menzies, GBE, wife of the then Prime Minister of Australia - Robert Menzies. The ship entered service in 1961 and made her maiden voyage starting in June, operating on the combined P&O-Orient Line service between the United Kingdom and Australasia. So popular, the ship appeared in the 1971 James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever and in 1997 Gerard Kenny released the single "Farewell Canberra" which was specially composed for the last voyage, before it was withdrawn and sold to ship breakers for scrapping, and left for Gadani ship-breaking yard in Pakistan. Being such a solid construction, the scrapping process took a year instead of the planned 3 months. The ship also served as a troopship in the Falklands War being requisitioned by the MOD and quickly refitted for the purpose she sailed on 9th April 1982 travelling 9,000 nautical miles (17,000 km) away from the UK mainland and being put in the heart of the conflict she was nicknamed the Great White Whale.

Farthing 1675 Peck 528 A superb and choice piece in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 82. A well struck example on both obverse and reverse undoubtedly contributing to the high grade. Of a total mintage of 50 coins, it is believed that only 2 examples of this piece are available in the UK, with the other retailing in excess of £100,000, comes in the large and impressive South Africa Mint box of issue, with certificate of issue number 36 of 50 issued, 294-page hardback book 'Krugerrand Golden Jubilee' by Francois Malan and a set of South Africa postage stamps (3) International Small Letter rate each with Krugerrand coin designs 1967, 2000 and 2017 embossed onto gold foiling. Seychelles Thomas De la Rue underprint black & white Progressive Proofs for the 1918-36 George V portrait issue 1 and 5 Rupee Plates (3) all with Printer's Annotations, Thomas De La Rue imprint, well kept and all have pinholes. Consisting of a progressive proof for the 1 Rupee with Printer's Annotations in the border frame possibly for corrections, this has a minor Inner Tear and Rust paper clip marks possibly when displayed and archived in regard to the corrections. Along with Progressive proofs for the 5 Rupees both stuck on photographic paper (2) including the initial inspected proof and annotations of 2 flaw areas in the border frame areas near lower right and upper left corners near numerical denomination values. Along with the proof after corrections have taken place pointing to the same areas. An Exceptionally Rare and interesting find, infect our research could not find any similar proof's appearing on the internet. A unique opportunity for any collector to obtain these fine proof examples of the first Seychelles own Rupee currency which was circulating with and slowly replaced the Mauritius rupee, and these issues were the only circulating currency in the form of banknotes until the first introduction of coins in 1939. The North of Scotland Bank notes have been and always are keenly sought after by collectors due to their imperviously beautiful design. It makes this a very rare and desirable note along with the fact that this bank was the last of Aberdeen issuers, the relatively small quantity of notes issued and this being the last design just before the bank's identity was completely lost in 1950 even through the Aberdonian directors determined efforts to preserve their independence after the London-based Midland Bank acquisition in 1923. Falkland Islands Government 50 PencePick 10b dated 20th February 1974 serial number D48235 and bearing the signature of Harold Theodore Rowlands OBE CBE titled Commissioner of Currency who entered Government in 1948 and was appointed Secretary and Commissioner for taxation in 1972. The banknote in brown on grey underprint and features a crowned portrait of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II facing left on obverse and the reverse displaying an exquisitely designed brown guilloche panel. Printed by Thomas De La Rue & Company Limited London inscribed in small script at lower centre margin and watermarked with lozenge quadrilateral shaped pattern across the paper. About UNC
New ZealandReserve Bank5 Dollars (2) comprising the designs featuring H.M. Queen Elizabeth II but by 2 different printers. The first being Pick 165c ND (1967-1981) serial number 131 113902 signature R. L. Knight titled Chief Cashier holding the position from 1973 to 1977 printed by De La Rue inscribed in small script at lower left reverse and here the portrait of H.M. the Queen is crowned with a tiara and looking 3/4 left similar to Gibraltar printed by them notes of that period. The second note is the later Bradbury Wilkinson and Co. printing inscribed in small script at lower left on the reverse Pick 171a ND (1981 - 1992) serial number JAM 001514 and signed Ray Hardie titled Chief Cashier who took the position after R. L. Knight and held it between 1977 to 1984 and here the portrait of H.M. the Queen is crowned with a different style tiara and now facing forward.
